star perks at starbucks

This afternoon I was at the Starbucks on Chambers Street and West Broadway when this guy rolled on up on his bicycle, caught eye contact with me through the window and then looked away awkwardly, waltzed into the Starbucks to grab his venti frappuccino of some kind, and then waltzed back out and zoomed away up the street from whence he came on his bicycle.

Did I miss something? He was literally indoors for thirty seconds, tops. Did he call ahead and place an order or something? Can you even do that at Starbucks? Clearly he has an in with the barista staff. Maybe one day I can avert public attention by making advance pick-ups at Starbucks via bicycle.

What I don't get is what he was doing way the fuck downtown....was he headed towards Tribeca?

I'm kind of disappointed he didn't arrive and then zoom away on a Segway.

I'm so jealous! Great real estate aside, there are some things I'll never see in Columbus.

A) It was likely that he knew somebody that worked there.

B) Or maybe he goes there every Saturday and has his "usual" at the same Starbuck time, same Starbuck channel.

C) Pardon my cultural or pop cultural ignorance, just the who the hell is he, anyway?

Lauren -- You sound as if you know where this guy lives.... then again, Tribeca on a Saturday? Maybe he was biking to deliver the Starbucks drink to his wife during SNL rehearsal. This star sighting, however, is not as cool as you spotting Marcia Gay Harden having an argument with somebody on the uptown D train.

JJ -- It took me a minute to recognize him, only because it seemed weird that he wasn't on a segue. That said, he looks uncannily like a friend of mine, so I smiled as if to wave hello, and then realized that I might be the one who would expose him to the clientele at Starbucks.

LD -- You and I should stake out the Columbus Circle Whole Foods sometime and wait for Meryl Streep to come in and buy some soy milk.

WP -- A & B) I want those kind of ins with Starbucks employees. Do you think he got a free frappuccino? C) Get thee to Netflix and start renting Arrested Development. Don't say I never did anything for you.

maybe they started doing deliveries... that'll be $16.50 for the slightly lukewarm mocchafrapelattechino

Man, the star power...30 seconds for a frap...that's when you know you've made it. That and the bicycle.
